Welcome to the Department of Public Health.

The Department, as a component of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Hamdard University Bangladesh, offers a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree program.

The main aim of ‘public health’ is to enhance the health of human populations. Therefore, our MPH program is designed to produce future-ready public health professionals by helping students acquire up-to-date knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to effectively and efficiently address present and future local, regional, and global public health challenges.

The Hamdard University Bangladesh MPH program curriculum incorporates mandatory courses in core disciplines including biostatistics, biological sciences, demography, environmental and occupational health, epidemiology, health economics, health information and technology, health policy and law, health services management, public health ethics, research proposal development, and social and behavioural sciences. Besides the core courses, students take major courses and elective courses to customize their study plan according to personal preferences and job market demands. In addition, each student conducts a supervised research project and writes a dissertation.

The Department’s teaching faculty reflects the multidisciplinary nature of its MPH program and includes full-time, adjunct, and invited lecturers who are highly experienced and reputed in their disciplines.

Above all and in line with the values and ideals of Hamdard University Bangladesh, the Department of Public Health provides an academic environment that fosters open discussions, brotherhood, team learning, shared decision-making, and intellectual and academic freedom.
